With 16 brilliant-cut diamonds set in platinum settings, this ring combines the modern style of Deco pieces with the imposing style of 1940s pieces in an architectural design that sits comfortably on the hand.   <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a result of the war and restrictions on precious metals, especially platinum which was needed for the arms industry, the 1940s and 1950s saw the return of yellow gold which was used in large and apparent pieces accompanied by less expensive gems such as amethysts and citrines and synthetic variants of rubies and sapphires which began to be systematized from the work of Auguste Vernehuile at the beginning of the century. Imitations of aquamarine are also very common at this time.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Naturalistic motifs in asymmetrical designs embodied in bouquets of flowers or exotic birds, the &#8220;Tubogas&#8221; or &#8220;Chaine Serpente&#8221;, thick and articulated bracelets and a strong influence of Art Deco in the 40&#8217;s are also typical of this period.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This ring, with its rounded shape and the presence of baguettes, is clearly located in the 40&#8217;s due to its Deco design, a style that was present in the stores of the bourgeoisie of the time.
