Legend has it that the Pasha of Marrakech, Thami El Glaoui, commissioned Louis Cartier to create a water-resistant watch in the 1930s, and that this commission gave rise to a watch with unique characteristics , designed to withstand the demanding conditions of the Pasha’s life.

The original design featured a round case, a crown protected by a screw-on cover, and a protective grid over the crystal, elements that differentiated it from traditional dress watches.

In 1985, Cartier relaunched the Pasha collection, giving it a contemporary twist and transforming it into a symbol of status and elegance. The updated design retained the essence of the original model, but with softer lines and a more refined style.
