Morganite , named after the American businessman and art collector J.P. Morgan, is the pink or orange variety of beryl and is currently one of the most highly valued gemstones in the gem market. Also known as cesian beryl or pink emerald , morganite is found in Brazil, Afghanistan, Mozambique, Namibia, the United States and Madagascar and has gained increasing popularity since 2010 when good-sized, well-coloured specimens were discovered for the first time in Madagascar.

Sister of emerald, aquamarine, heliodor and bixbite among others, morganite is a very clear gemstone that owes its color to manganese and which, due to a phenomenon known as pleochroism, can present different colors depending on the direction of the light that falls on it.
