Platinum considered one of the precious metals along with gold, silver, rhodium, and palladium, is a rare metal that for a long time was more expensive than gold. First mentioned in “A Voyage to South America” by the Spaniard Antonio de Ulloa in 1748, where he describes that the metal could be found in the gold-panning sites in the regions of Chocó in current Colombia, traces of the metal have been found in burials in Egypt.
