18K white gold ring with emerald and diamonds

Emerald, a variety of beryl that owes its green color to chromium and sometimes to vanadium, is the most valued and appreciated gem within its group that also includes aquamarines, morganite, heliodorite and the very rare bixbite (red beryl). Its name comes from the Greek “Smaragdos“green stone” and is formed by the interaction of magma and sedimentary rocks in the interior of the earth’s crust. There are emerald deposits in Colombia, Brazil, Zambia, Zimbabwe and many other places in the world, but Colombia and Zambia are the largest producers of quality gems because, although Zimbabwe also produces high quality specimens, they are all of very small sizes.

Zambian emeralds are known for their quality and brilliance and for having exceptional clarity and crystallization. They have almost no inclusions or clouds and are characterized by an intense forest green color. Twenty-two natural brilliant-cut diamonds surround the gemstone in a medium-sized low gallery ring, very comfortable to wear.
